THE IMPROPER BOSTONIAN CHEF’S ISSUE: “AT THE PLATE: Jen Royle” Check out The Improper Bostonian (Feb. 25 – March 10) Chef’s issue, highlighting some of Boston’s best chefs and rising stars. In this edition, the popular Jonathan Soroff features veteran sports reporter turned aspiring chef, Jen Royle, who recently appeared on Season 3 of ABC’s “The Taste.” Royle finished fifth out of 24 contestants and was the only home cook remaining in the competition from Top 10 down. Jen found herself in the bottom twice only to pull herself out by winning two “taste-offs” against professional chefs. Her Chicken Pot Pie earned her a gold star during the “New Years” challenge and Anthony Bourdain called her seared tuna in shrimp and ginger broth “Sophisticated, extremely well-executed and very refined” during the “Bring The Heat” challenge.
She recently staged at two of James Beard Award winning Chef Tony Maws’ popular Cambridge restaurants, Craige on Main and Kirkland Tap and Trotter, but will be sticking to her Italian roots when she starts a new job this spring at a popular Italian restaurant in her hometown of Boston.
