THE IMPROPER BOSTONIAN CHEF’S ISSUE: “AT THE PLATE: Jen Royle” Check out The Improper Bostonian (Feb. 25 – March 10) Chef’s issue, highlighting some of Boston’s best chefs and rising stars. In this edition, the popular Jonathan Soroff features veteran sports reporter turned aspiring chef, Jen Royle, who recently appeared on Season 3 of ABC’s “The Taste.” Royle finished fifth out of 24 contestants and was the only home cook remaining in the competition from Top 10 down. Jen found herself in the bottom twice only to pull herself out by winning two “taste-offs” against professional chefs. Her Chicken Pot Pie earned her a gold star during the “New Years” challenge and Anthony Bourdain called her seared tuna in shrimp and ginger broth “Sophisticated, extremely well-executed and very refined” during the “Bring The Heat” challenge.

Soroff writes, “EMMY AWARD-WINNING SPORT REPORTER JEN ROYLE recently made it to the finale of the ABC cooking series The Taste as the only non-professional chef competing. As a journalist, she has covered the New York Yankees, the Baltimore Ravens and the Red Sox. She is currently a reporter for The Boston Herald and the host of the online video series, Talk of the Town. A Boston native, she lives in Charlestown, recently released her second cookbook.
